Tavern Sign
A prop I did to practice using normal maps. Modeled the low poly and high poly versions in 3ds max, Projected the normals from the high poly and then composited some design elements using Crazy Bump and Photoshop.

Experimenting with Normals
This is something I created today just to experiment with normal maps.
The left one is the high poly model approximately a million polygons
The middle one is low poly version with 261 polygons and 249 verts.

The countdown has begun
I have my final portfolio review this coming monday at 8:40 am and hopefully nothing will go wrong.
So I started texturing my Zee brush piece today and this is how it looks right now.

As was suggested, I decided to replace the base with a rock so it looks like this statue was never completed. I like the story telling aspect it gives. I am just experimenting with the rock right now. I am looking to create an interesting shape.

ZBrush Sculpture WIP
This is my zbrush piece that I started in Zbrush with Zsketch first and then brought in 3ds max and added hands and feet. Then brought back into Zbrush and posed and now I am sculpting. I haven't gotten the change to start working on the hands yet and while I was posing the model they kidna lost their shape.

More Reel Progress and Comic Con& Siggraph
Last week was absolutely awesome. I was lucky enough to attend to San Diego Comic Con and Siggraph. I met with amazingly talented people, got to show my reel around and got some feedback. I also got to sit at some very inspiring panels. I feel like last week was a pivotal point in my life and I feel so much more motivated now.
So this is a little progress on my reel I still have close to two months to work on it. Additionally, I am working on a ZBrush sculpture right now that will go in my forest scene. Hopefully soon I will post some renders of it too.

I was trying to get this ready by Siggraph even though I have 2 months to finish working on this I still wanted to be able to show my reel at Siggraph 2010 but, ran into some technical problems and I didn't have the time to render the reel in the right format. but atleast it's up here.

Fixed some issues.
I cleaned up the ghosts from the first scene. It's not haunted now so hence there's not a single flying object anymore like there was in the previous reel.

Some old 2D works of mine
For me before 3D there was 2D, I started drawing and painting before I learned 3D and I still try to paint as much as I can in my free time. Perhaps that's why I enjoy texturing, because it feels like painting to me.

Alleyway re-rendered
So I decided to unwrap the main building to paint the textures but now I have to do the same to the other buildings too. and still need to render an ambient occlusion pass.
